Second Anniversary - Ombi & Dueling Pianos

What a wonderful anniversary! To the left is a picture from last night of us at dinner. Yendis and I have been together (as a couple, not married) for 2 years officially. We have a son who is almost one year old and have a pretty great relationship. I think she's strange sometimes but she thinks I'm strange sometimes but I guess everybody does that. We get along well and work out issues easily. We are a very compatible couple. She helps me when I'm down and I help her when I'm down.

Let's get in to last night. We ended up making reservations and Ombi on Elliston Place in Nashville. The restaurant had a great little environment. They had good lighting, interior and it was small but not too small. Yes, the dishes were somewhat expensive. We had two appetizers, then I had a shrimp entree and Yendis had the Swordfish entree. Afterwards we both had Creme Brulee (not sure if my spelling is accurate). The presentation and everything was excellent. We also had a bottle of wine. I'm not much of a wine expert. It was a full-bodied red wine from Spain is all I could tell you. The presentationand everything was top notch. I still have to say I like Acorn a bit better in this class of restaurant but this place is on the level for sure. We spent about $140 for tip and meal together.

After that we headed down to Broadway and went to the tourist area. We went to this place where they have dueling pianos. I uploaded some photos to flickr. It's a pretty cool place. They do covers from the past 30 years on dueling pianos. But we got them to do Lil John & Usher 'Yeah'… It was pretty fun. The bartender got on the drums to do that song and the other two backed him up on the piano. The one guy said "Nothing says hip hop like two white guys on grand pianos"… pretty funny but actually it was really good. They did all kinds of music. We drank and kept the Shiner Bock's coming. I even drank a Guinness (unusual for me). Yendis was doing cherry bombs.

I still haven't got my car window fixed from the smash and grab when my laptop go stolen last week so I was a bit cautious when it came to parking. But everything is a okay. These bums were asking for people's parking tickets as they left and then re-selling them to people that parked. What a great little hustle! (-:

Cinco de Mayo: A Nashville Version

A guy I know from one of our clients named John threw a Cinco de Mayo party this Saturday. It was quite impressive I must say. They brewed their own beer, they had 2 bands, and food. I brought a couple neighbors, some tequila, and my girlfriend. We got there late because Yendis makes us late for everything. She says it’s my fault because I took her to go pick out beer and that took an hour and a half out of the day but I really think we could have been there before that. If it was the first time we were late for anything then I wouldn’t care that much but come on… it started at 6pm. I wanted to leave at 7pm and we didn’t leave till almost 8:45pm. Wow!

Anyways, I ain’t mad at her. Just would like to get her to be more on time for things. So, we got to the party late and started thowin back drinks, of course. Derek & Leslie came to the party too. It seemed like everybody had a good time. The music was decent and about 50+ people were there when we got there. A good turn out. It’s the first real party I’ve been to since I came to Nashville, which is a bit sad but hey… We really don’t get to hang out with too many people down here and you have to meet people to have or go to parties. Neither Yendis nor I have made any close friends. We did meet a few of our neighbors recently though. They are really cool and I think we might get some good friends out of it. I’ve never had that difficult of a time making friends in any city except Nashville. I’m not sure why the ‘ville is different because I really like the city. It just seems hard to get a circle of friends.

Anyways, we had a great time this cinco de mayo and I’m still tired but work awaits… so back to it.

ATL Venture

We went to Atlanta this past Easter weekend for an old friend’s birthday (Yendis’s cousin as well). Anyways, we left Juhlyun here with my mother in Nashville. So, we got a nice hotel room which was across from the club that our friend rented out for her birthday party. The club was seriously only a few yards from the hotel. So, we could drink as much as we wanted and stumble back to the room. That’s what we did too. We drank, took pictures, hung out with people we didn’t really know that well and just partied till we had to leave and then passed out at about 4:30am. Then, we woke up the next morning (late morning) and went to Breakfast with the birthday girl and her husband (who were in the hotel across from ours) and hung out at the restaurant for about 2 and a half hours telling stories and just bullshitting. We had a great time and can’t wait to go back to Atlanta and hang out again. ATL, I wouldn’t wana live there, but I love hanging out there. I’ll post pics at some point in the next couple days.

Bush Twins Gone Wild

Those crazy drunk chicks are running around Argentina having a great 25th birthday. So much so, they got one of their purses stolen and there are reports that the embassy asked them to leave. I wonder if they will be on the next Girls Gone Wild movie. Hypocrisy is great isn’t it, Mr. Bush? Oh, when they come back I guess you can all sit down and pray for forgiveness with them.

November Party

Below are some pics of the party we had. It was more of a get together. A lot of people who said they were going to come couldn’t make it. But, we still had a blast, played some drinking games, talked about work, politics and just general discussion. I had a great time and would like to thank the people who did make it. Jackson from Jaxn.org made it but he had to leave early because his wife is pregnant and she was requesting some food. But, I know how that goes since I just had a son. A couple friends and neighbors made it as well. Craig and his date made. They met on e-Harmony but they seem to go good together so maybe that service works pretty well. Mike and Hannah made it. Then a couple of my neighbors came over. My girl was here. It turned out well. I think I should start making this a monthly thing just to let off some steam and celbrate all the success I have. So, that’s probably what I’m going to do. The turn out will get better as it goes on.

Party Time

We are having a small party here in Nashville tonight. It’s a good time for it. There is change in the air with the dems in controll of the congress. I just started working for myself again last month and the work is POURING in. I was worried about not having enough work and I’m about to have to start using my friends to overflow work because I have so much work. Also, I just had a son who turned two months. It’s truly a blessed day in my career, my new family, and in the country in general. So, what does that make it time to do? Yes, party, celebrate. Time for some cold ones and being surrounded by good friends. So, tonight is the night for celebration. I’ll post pictures. Everyone be good and praise the beauty of the complicated times we are in.
